If your feed has been flooded with blue serums lately, there’s a reason — and it isn’t marketing dye. The active behind the colour is GHK-Cu, a copper peptide that’s quietly become one of the most talked-about ingredients in skincare. But most brands slap it on a label and never explain it. We’d rather show you exactly what you’re putting on your face.
What is a copper peptide serum?
A copper peptide serum is a leave-on treatment built around GHK-Cu: a small chain of three amino acids (a tripeptide) bound to a single copper ion. Your body already makes GHK-Cu naturally; levels are high when you’re young and decline as you age. Topical copper peptides are the skincare world’s way of putting some of that signal back. They work with your skin’s own renewal language rather than forcing it.
What GHK-Cu does for the look of your skin
Copper peptides are associated with the appearance of firmer-looking skin, smoother texture, radiance, and — in our hydrating formula — a plumper, more hydrated look. Because it works gradually, GHK-Cu is a consistency ingredient: the results build the longer you use it. (These are cosmetic benefits — how skin looks and feels — not medical claims.)
Why is a copper peptide serum blue?
The blue isn’t dye and it isn’t decoration — it’s the copper peptide itself. The colour is the natural signature of the GHK-Cu complex, so a rich blue is a visual clue the active is really in there. As the serum absorbs, the blue disappears and the glow is what stays behind. We think of it as the blue water for your skin.
Why we dose it at 3%
Most brands use copper peptides in small, conservative concentrations. We run ours at 3% GHK-Cu — a strength very few brands will formulate at. Why? Because Australian skin doesn’t live under conservative conditions. Between intense UV, heat, salt air and the constant swing from outdoor sun to indoor air-conditioning, skin here takes on more environmental stress than most formulas were designed for. Our GHK-Cu is around 99% pure (HPLC-verified), on a hyaluronic acid base with glycerin — hydrating, lightweight, easy to layer.
The supporting cast: B5, Hyaluronic Acid & Glycerin
- Vitamin B5 (panthenol) — comfort and glow; a humectant that keeps a high-strength active feeling gentle.
- Hyaluronic Acid — hydration; draws moisture in for a plumper, dewier look.
- Glycerin — the seal; locks moisture in so skin stays soft.
How to use it
On clean skin, apply 3–5 drops morning and night, before your moisturiser. In the morning, always follow with sunscreen — non-negotiable in Australia. Introduce gradually if sensitive, patch test first, and keep it separate from direct vitamin C (one AM, one PM).
Why it matters where your skincare was made
Most luxury skincare is formulated in Paris, Milan, New York or Seoul, for completely different climates. Aura was built the other way around: made and branded in Australia, for a life lived under the sun and beside the ocean.
Made for an island. Made for its people. Aura — the blue water for your skin.
